Jason Long, Tina Norden and Maria Cheung named Dezeen Awards 2023 judges

Architects Jason Long, Tina Norden and Maria Cheung join Kickstarter's Heather Swift Hunt, EDGE's Anja Köhler and Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Joe Iles as the final Dezeen Awards 2023 judges to be announced.

Dezeen Awards 2023, in partnership with Bentley Motors, is now closed for entries. The longlists will be published on Dezeen in September.

Now in its sixth year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Architect Jason Long leads studio OMA's New York office

Long is a partner at Dutch architecture practice OMA, leading its New York office and diverse portfolio in the Americas.

Projects under Long's direction include the overhaul of a post office in Houston into a mixed-use venue for arts, French cultural institute Centre Pompidou's first North American outpost in Jersey City, the conversion of a bakery into a community arts hub in Detroit and a raised garden over Washington DC's Anacostia River.

The architect has also led residential projects such as a tiered residential structure with interlocking towers in Miami Beach and OMA's first high-rise towers in New York. In California, he oversaw the completion of The Avery, a glass condo high-rise in San Francisco. He is currently leading the design of 730 Stanyan, an affordable housing building in San Francisco.

Tina Norden is a partner at architecture firm Conran and Partners

Architect and interior designer Norden is a partner at practice Conran and Partners. She recently completed the refurbishment of Maximilian, a boutique hotel in Prague, and the interiors of the QO Amsterdam hotel.

Norden leads design teams in both the UK and Hong Kong and is currently working on two new Park Hyatt hotel projects in Jakarta and Changsha, having recently completed a third Park Hyatt in Auckland. She is also working on a five-star hotel in Mumbai, a long-stay hotel for Lanson Place in Melbourne and several residential and clubhouse projects in Hong Kong.

The interior designer has also collaborated on projects with restaurant group D&D London for over a decade, including the South Place Hotel in the City of London and the German Gymnasium in King's Cross.

Maria Cheung is a director at architecture and design practice Squire & Partners

Cheung is a director and head of interior design at architecture and design practice Squire & Partners.

She has led the interior design of workspaces for pioneering developers including the nightclub Ministry of Sound's co-working space and members' club and Derwent London, as well as The Department Store Studios, developed by Squire & Partners as flexible workspaces that focus on well-being, sustainability and connecting with the local community.

Cheung has been a judge for Dezeen Awards, FX and World Interiors News award programmes and is a regular speaker at industry events including Workspace Design Show, London Design Festival and London Craft Week.

Heather Swift Hunt leads design and technology at American public benefit corporation Kickstarter

Hunt is the head of design and technology at online creative campaign community Kickstarter.

She works closely with hardware startups, product designers and makers who use Kickstarter to bring new products to life.

Before Kickstarter, Hunt worked in creative technology for over a decade as a curator and cultural producer at the New Museum in New York, London's Barbican and FACT Liverpool, among others.

Anja Köhler is responsible for EDGE's sustainability and ESG strategy

Köhler is the head of sustainability at building developer EDGE, with a focus on driving thought leadership knowledge and innovation within the company.

Since joining EDGE Köhler has worked across and with several teams, including the product excellence team, EDGE Next, and the innovation and environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) team.

As head of sustainability, Köhler is responsible for the company's sustainability and ESG ambition and strategy. She works across all operating countries, communicating with teams to ensure the company's sustainability and ESG goals are well-embedded in all projects.

Joe Iles also is a writer and speaker at Ellen MacArthur Foundation

Iles is the circular design programme lead at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which aims to accelerate the transition to the circular economy.

Since joining the foundation, Illes has helped shape the circular economy narrative, crafting stories and messages to reach new audiences and improve understanding.

Iles writes and presents on the topic of circular economy and is frequently involved in Ellen MacArthur Foundation's events, including the Circular Economy Show and Summit.
